To support the work of Thornton Parish Council, Barratt and David Wilson Homes has made a donation to help secure new equipment for the council’s litter-picking volunteers.
In a bid to help the group in its efforts to keep Merseyside communities clean, the leading developer supplied the volunteers with high-quality litter pickers, hoops to hold the bags for the collection of waste, a range of hi-vis vests, and disposable gloves.
Barratt and David Wilson Homes Sales Adviser, John Koh, visited the litter-picking group at a recent outing to see the invaluable work they carry out in keeping Thornton clean and safe.
Bob McGill, Chair at Thornton Parish Council, said: “Thornton Parish Council have been carrying out a monthly litter pick for four years. The equipment we use has become a bit tired, old and worn, so this generous contribution from Barratt and David Wilson Homes is greatly appreciated. The new equipment is a big improvement on what we had and includes specialist additions to assist us in our endeavours to keep our community clean and tidy .”
According to stats from Keep Britain Tidy, a total of 449,406 bags of rubbish and litter were collected from around the UK in 2023. Groups such as Thornton Parish Council’s team of volunteers offer a vital service to the local community.
Claire Jarvis, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West, said: “It was our pleasure to support Thornton Parish Council and provide them with brand-new equipment to help them continue their excellent work in the community.
“As a leading housebuilder, it’s our aim to build communities to give our customers new homes to be proud of and, in doing so, we strive to help the local towns and benefit the countryside through donations such as this.”
Barratt and David Wilson Homes is currently building a range of properties at the Sundial Place developments on Thorn Tree Drive in Thornton, with a range of three and four bedroom homes available.
